European Solidarity Corps

The European Solidarity Corps (ESC) is a programme which aims to provide young people with easily accessible opportunities for participation in solidarity activities, mostly through volunteer work, that affect positive societal changes, while improving their skills and competencies for personal, educational and professional development. Volunteering programmes can include a wide range of topics, such as youth work, cultural activities, social services, and the promotion of sustainable development.

Centro Culturale Fonti San Lorenzo has been an ESC supporting, coordinating and hosting organization for several years now and we are pleased to announce a new call for an individual volunteering project in the year 2022. The participants will be welcomed in Recanati, the town in the Marche region of Italy and inland above the Adriatic Sea. The role of the volunteers will be assisting educators in carrying out various activities in the center, as well as working with the youth and the community. The Youth Aggregation Center (11-25 years, target audience), the Ludoteca (4-10 years) and the “Sotterfugio” are the services that the association offers to all children and young people who live in the town. The ideal volunteer should be a person who is motivated to work in a multicultural environment and has a strong sense of initiative and creativity. Some of the tasks that participants are expected to complete within the project are: undertaking activities to promote European mobility opportunities for young people, helping children with homework, creating personal workshops, caring for public parks and common goods, participating in linguistic tandems, raising awareness about one's culture and country, supporting external communication activities, developing and implementing individual ideas.

Through this experience, there will be numerous opportunities to gain knowledge and helpful insights in a variety of formats. The volunteers will take part in the “On Arrival Training” and “Mid Term Training” with other international participants in Italy, organized by the national agency. Additionaly, our organization will provide the learning support for everyday activities. Each volunteer will have a tutor and a mentor that will help them get settled in the workplace and integrate into the local community. If needed, we will provide reinforced mentorship. On top of that, besides OLS (online language support), the volunteers will be given Italian language classes.

Within the project living expenses such as food, accommodation and pocket money, as well as travel and insurance will be covered.

If you are a European citizen aged 18-30 years, willing to travel abroad, study a new language and get engaged in solidarity activities, then this opportunity is for you! The start date of the project is 15/03/2022 ( flexible dates ) and lasts for 12 months.
